Zander listened carefully to the explanation so he was sure of just how the needles worked. And judging by what Calista was telling him, it was more than dangerous enough for Varey to have in his possession. "Creative," he remarked. He highly doubted the plan for him was something as simple as exsanguination, but he couldn't rule it out. He was only sure of one thing: Calista was the type of person who was invaluable to have as a friend and deadly as an enemy. Maybe he should be glad Varey had approached her if she had a cure for the poisons coating the needle. "Was this something you had already invented or did he request this?" If he had requested it, Zander was willing to bet he was farther along in his plans than he'd like to think about. That meant they needed the memory potion done and fast. He was probably running out of time to get Julie to remember everything. Even then, he doubted it would stop Varey's plans--why would it?--but at least he could try to get her away from him. "And how much of that stuff do you have?" he asked of the body butter. "Because I'll probably need to be purchasing some." Or a lot. He smiled just a little at her suggestion for what to do with Varey. "Believe me, I've thought about asking her," he admitted. "But I can't. Not now. If anyone's going to kill him, it's going to be me," he said firmly. "But first I need the memory potion to be done. Then Julie can get away from him first. And killing him would make certain enemies of the rest of his organization, which isn't something I necessarily need to take on right now." |

"I never make anything but." Calista told him, pleased that he thought so anyway. She was vain enough to know that her work was amazing and despite that she needed the validation. At least it was a new compliment; Tiger stopped a long time ago because Calista never gave out anything that wasn't perfection. "He demanded it, actually. I got a letter stating his needs and a lump sum to cover the experiment and materials. He gave me a timeline in which to have it done and this meeting place." That irked her immensely. In fact, now she was thinking that she should have ignored the letter, sent back the money, and neglected to complete his request. It had struck her curiousity though, and it'd been a while since someone had asked for something so specific. "Enough to render each of those needles useless if they were slid into the balm. I was a little worried he was going to turn around and end up using them on me. All background checks came up too clean; that usually means he's the black dog of whatever organization he's associated with. You can have it." Plus, Varey's lump sum paid for the experimentation on the antidote as well. It would be ironic if the man tried to use it on Zander, only to have something else he paid for thwart his evil plans. She liked the irony. What she didn't like was Zander deciding that he had to take care of the brute himself. Revenge was all good and well, but why dirty your hands unneedlessly when you had someone else to do it for you? She found great release in someone dying because of her, even if she didn't break her manicure to do it. Some people... "So when this all happens, is she going to be added? Because I'm pretty sure at that point we could be called a harem. I do like those fabrics; and the colors look great on me." |

"Ok, good to know. Probably means he's already got something in motion," Zander replied, more thinking out loud than informing her of what Varey was most likely doing. "You were right about him," he confirmed. "He's good at covering his tracks, but he's far from clean." Zander wasn't at all surprised that any background check she'd done had come up with nothing. The best criminals, after all, didn't need to get caught. He was definitely grateful to her for being able to give him the antidote. Under better circumstances, if he wasn't so preoccupied with trying to plan out his own course of action, he might have laughed at Calista's suggestion. He glanced up at her, having barely actually heard her statement. "Wait what? No..." He shook his head, smiling a little. "Definitely not. I just want her safe." They were interrupted by the sound of the restaurant doors open and people filing back in. Deciding it was well past time they cleared out of there, Calista and Zander exited before Apparating back to England. |
